Turn "ON" the ignition switch (do not start the engine). CONSULT-II will turn on automatically (see Figure 16).

Press "START" and select "ENGINE".

Press "SELF-DIAG RESULTS" and confirm that no DTCs exist.

If no DTCs exist, proceed to step 19.

If DTCs exist, print them, then erase the DTCs and proceed to step 19.

NOTE:

Additional repairs may be necessary if the DTC's are not associated with a Reprogramming bulletin. Refer to the appropriate Service Manual.

Press "Back" three times to return to the CONSULT-II main menu.

Confirm the vehicle and CONSULT II battery voltage.

Press "SUB MODE" and select "BATTERY CHARGE".

Refer to Figure 17. The vehicle battery voltage is "Charger Input". "Battery Voltage" is CONSULT-II's battery voltage.

If the vehicle battery voltage ("Charger Input") is less than 11 volts, charge it properly/replace it before proceeding with ECM
Reprogramming.

If CONSULT-II's battery ("Battery Voltage") is less than 8 volts, disconnect CONSULT-II and charge its battery before proceeding with ECM
Reprogramming.

If the batteries are within specification, proceed to step 22.

CAUTION:

Do not attempt ECM Reprogramming if the voltage of either battery is below the specified voltage. ECM damage can occur if the batteries do
not maintain the minimum voltage during the ECM Reprogramming.

Turn the vehicle's ignition switch "OFF" and CONSULT-II off.
