2000 SENTRA HUM OR WHISTLE NOISE AT UPPER WINDSHIELD MOLDING
APPLIED VEHICLES:
2000 Sentra (B15)
SERVICE INFORMATION
Use the procedure in this bulletin to diagnose and repair an applied vehicle if an intermittent hum or whistle is heard at the upper edge of the windshield
(see Figure 1) at speeds above 70 miles per hour. The noise may sound as if it is coming from the dash area or appear to be wind noise. The noise may be
caused by a "reed effect," in which air passing over the upper molding lip causes the rubber to lift and vibrate against the roof panel.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Diagnosis:
1.
Drive the vehicle under the conditions described by the customer to verify the noise.
2.
If the noise is present, apply a good quality masking tape over the upper windshield molding, making sure the upper lip is covered.
3.
Road test again:
A.
If the noise is still present, this bulletin does not apply. Investigate other causes for the noise and repair as needed.
B.
If the noise is no longer present, perform the following Service Procedure Repair to correct the condition.
