Brake Pedal Assy: Adjustments
ADJUSTMENT
Brake Pedal Adjustment
Under a force of 490 N (50 kg, 110 lb), with engine running, check brake pedal height from floor panel.
Dimension H: Free height for vehicles with manual transaxle 148 - 158 mm (5.83 - 6.22 inch); automatic transaxles 157 - 167 mm (6.18 - 6.57 inch)
Dimension D: Depressed height for vehicles with manual transaxle 75 mm (2.95 in) or more; automatic transaxles 85 mm (3.35 inch) or more.
Dimension C1, C2: Clearance between pedal stopper and threaded end of the stop lamp switch and the Automatic Speed Control Device (ASCD)
brake switch 0.3 - 1.0 mm (0.012 - 0.039 inch)
Dimension A: Pedal free play (at pedal pad) 1.0 - 3.0 mm (0.039 - 0.118 inch)
If necessary, adjust brake pedal as follows:

1. Loosen lock nut and adjust pedal free height by turning brake booster input rod. Then tighten lock nut. Make sure that the tip of input rod stays
inside.
2. Loosen lock nut and adjust clearance C1 and C2 with stop lamp switch and ASCD brake switch (or A/T shift lock switch) respectively. Then
tighten lock nuts.
3. Check pedal free play. Make sure that stop lamps go "OFF" when pedal is released.
