If the bracket connection to the wheel house is perforated, use the following procedure (see Figure 7):

NOTE: 

The two bolts and nuts in the bracket kit are not used for this procedure.

A.

Remove the entire fuel filler tube bracket from the wheel house.

B.

Use a nylon 3M Scotch-Brite Clean & Strip disc P/N 051131-07460 to remove all corrosion and paint from the area.

C.

Spray a thin coat of DuPont aerosol primer (DuPont P/N 215S) on the prepared area.

D.

Attach the new bracket to the fuel filler tube with one new bolt from Kit A.

E.

Make sure the bracket is in the correct position.

F.

From the trunk, use the procedure from Operation 3, steps 4.A. through 4.K. and step 6 (pages 6-8) to apply a resin matte patch to cover the
cut out and the bracket flange. Cover the good metal on the wheel house by at least 1 inch all around.

G.

From the outer wheel house, apply a resin matte patch over the bracket flange and the adjacent wheel house. Allow both sides to dry.

H.

Tighten the two new fuel filler tube bracket bolts from Kit A (one near the fuel tank and one on the wheel house) to secure the fuel filler
tube. Apply seam sealer to the edges of the patches. Use a brush to smooth the sealer for good seam coverage.

Operation 2 Sandblast and Prime Outer Wheel House Panel

Kits Required: Kit A

1.

Remove the fuel filler tube as outlined in Fuel Filler Tube Removal.

2.

In the wheel house, use a sand blaster to remove all corrosion from the wheel house, the seams and around the fuel filler area. Thoroughly clean
the area to remove sand particles and dust.

A.

If perforations are detected after sandblasting, contact the Nissan dealership from which the vehicle came and request Kit C for resin matte
application. Skip the remaining steps and perform Operation 3, Repair Perforations In Outer Wheel House Panel with Resin Patches.

3.

Spray a thin coat of DuPont aerosol primer (DuPont P/N 215S) on all surfaces where bare metal is exposed.

NOTE:

Check local VOC regulations for applicable products in your area.

Apply Lord(R) Chemicals Fusor(R) Urethane Sealer/Adhesive P/N 800 to sandblasted panel seams. Use a brush to smooth the sealer for good
seam coverage.

5.

Install the new fuel filler tube as outlined in Fuel Filler Tube Installation. Do not install the protective cover.

6.

Install the wheel. Torque the bolts to 72-87 ft-lb (98-118 N.m). Lower the vehicle.
