Camshaft: Testing and Inspection

1. After removal of camshaft, check for scratches, seizure and wear.

Camshaft Journal Run-out

2. Measure camshaft runout at the center journal.

Runout (Total indicator reading): 0 - 0.02 mm (0 - 0.0008 in)

NOTE: If it exceeds the limit, replace camshaft.

Camshaft Lobe Height

3. Measure camshaft cam height.

Standard cam height: 44.839 - 45.029 mm (1.7653 - 1.7728 in)

Cam wear limit: 0.2 mm (0.008 in)

NOTE: If wear is beyond the limit, replace camshaft.

Rocker Shafts Tightening Sequence

4. Install camshaft bracket and rocker shaft. Tighten bolts in sequence shown.

Torque bolts to: 37 - 41 N-m (27 - 30 ft.lb.)
