SERVICE INFORMATION:
The A/C switch is installed in all vehicles at the factory and is covered with a blind plug on heater-only vehicles. When installing an A/C system, the
blind plug is removed and the A/C button is installed. Some 1991 Stanzas produced between 12/13/90 and 12/28/90 may have an incorrect A/C switch.
If installing an A/C system in a 1991 Nissan Stanza, determine if the switch is correct or incorrect before installing the A/C button.

INSPECTION:
1.

After removing the A/C switch blind plug, inspect the A/C switch to determine if it is correct (Figure 1).

2.

If the switch is correct, continue the A/C installation. If the switch is incorrect, follow the Replacement Procedure, below.

NOTE:

If installation of the A/C button is attempted on the incorrect A/C switch, the button may break.

REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE

Preparation
1.

Disconnect the negative battery cable (record the audio pre-sets if the vehicle has already been delivered to a customer).

2.

Set the parking brake.

3.

For automatic transmission vehicles, move the shifter back to 1st gear by depressing the release on the front of the lever. For manual transmission
vehicles, shift the lever into 2nd or 4th gear.
