Idle Speed: Adjustments

1.

Start the engine and warm it up until the water temperature indicator points to the middle of the gauge.

2.

Operate the engine at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes under no load.

3.

Race the engine 2 or 3 times under no load, then check the idle speed.
Idle speed should be:
USA vehicles,
 M/T 700 ± 50 rpm. 
 A/T 700 ± 50 rpm (in "N" position). 

Canadian vehicles
 M/T 750 ± 50 rpm. 
 A/T 750 ± 50 rpm (in "N" position). 
If not proceed to step 4.

4.

Turn the engine off.

5.

Disconnect the throttle sensor connector (located on the throttle chamber).

6.

Start the engine and warm it up until the water temperature indicator points to the middle of the gauge.

7.

Operate the engine at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes under no load.

8.

Race the engine 2 or 3 times under no load then idle.

9.

Turn the idle adjusting screw (located on the idle air adjusting unit) to obtain an idle speed of 650 rpm in neutral.  

10. Turn the engine off.
11. Reconnect the throttle sensor harness.
12. Proceed to step 1.
