Install new pinion bearing adjusting shim(s), then install pinion seal ring on pinion gear assembly using a heat gun to heat seal ring before
installing.

Coat needle bearing roller and oil seal lip with multi-purpose grease and install pinion assembly to housing.

Coat rear oil seal lip with multi-purpose grease and install into rear housing, then install rear cover cap as shown in Fig. 10.
8.
On 300ZX models, install solenoid valve.
9.
On all models, install diaphragm spring to retainer in the following order; retainer, spring washer, diaphragm spring.

Attach lock plate (2), to side rod inner socket (1), then apply locking sealant to inner socket threads and screw inner socket into rack and tighten to
specifications. Bend lock plate at two cut out portions.
11.
Tighten outer socket nut to specifications, after adjusting dimension L, Fig. 11, to 6.96 inches.
12.
Measure and adjust rack stroke, then coat rubber boot contact surface with grease and install boot and clamps.
