Titan 2WD V8-5.6L (VK56) (2004)
Step 3: If new rotors are not available, resurface the existing rotors if they are at least 25.5 mm (1.0 in) thick.
^
Measure rotors using the appropriate tool.
^
When resurfacing rotors, use Pro-Cut(TM) PFM Series On-Car Brake Lathe support the vehicle with a jack at the front cross member as illustrated
and make equal cuts of 0.1 mm (0.004 in.) on each side of the rotor with each pass.
^
After rotor resurfacing, check Lateral Runout with the wheel installed and properly torqued using the dial indicator as described.
>
Over-tightening the wheel lug nuts may cause rotor distortion and increased Lateral Runout.
>
Lateral Runout with the installed wheel should not be over 0.05 mm (0.002 in.).
Step 4: Clean and inspect the cylinder body.
Step 5: Check the Torque Member version-old or new.
Step 6: If needed, install a new front brake caliper Torque Member kit and new Torque Member bolts. The Torque Member bolts are one-time use only
and must be replaced when removed.
Step 7: Install the new front brake pad kit, which includes new "coated" pad retainers and metal backing shims, using M77 grease.
Step 8: Resurface the rear brake rotors using the Pro-Cut On-Car Brake Lathe and install the new rear brake pad kit with M77 grease.
^
When resurfacing the rear brake rotors, support the vehicle with a jack or jack stand under the bumper support bar or trailer hitch.
^
Make equal cuts of 0.1 mm (0.004 in.) on each side of the rotor with each pass
>
Rear rotor minimum thickness: 12 mm (0.472 in.)
>
Rear rotor runout specification:
Armada: 0.05 mm (0.002 in) maximum runout.
Titan: 0.07 mm (0.003 in) maximum runout.
Step 9: Re-install the wheel and tires. Use a Torque Wrench to torque the lug nuts to 133 N.m (14 kg-m, 98 ft-lb).
Step 10: "Burnish" the brake pads as described.
