Titan 2WD V8-5.6L (VK56) (2004)
^
If runout is 0.05 mm (0.002 in) or less, remove the wheel and tire and go to Step 4 (Clean and Inspect the Cylinder Body).
Runout must not be more than 0.05 mm (0.002 in).
Rotor Indexing
When installing a new rotor, use the following "indexing" procedure. Indexing helps ensure a minimum amount of rotor "runout" ("lateral" or
side-to-side movement (<-->) as it's rotating).
A.
Make sure the rotor is fully contacting the hub. Check the rotor-to-hub surface. Clean off all rust, dirt, or other debris.
NOTE:
For cleaning the hub surface, specifically around the wheel studs, it is recommended to use the Wheel Hub Cleaning Kit # J-42450-A, which
can be ordered from Nissan TECH-MATE.
B.
Install the rotor and all lug nuts. Tighten the lug nuts to 40 ft-lbs (for this indexing process only).
^
Make sure you use open-ended lug nuts.
C.
Place a reference mark on the rotor and hub (see Figure A).
D.
Measure rotor runout with a dial indicator (see Figure B).
^
If the runout is below 0.03 mm (0.001 in), you're finished with the indexing procedure.
^
If the runout is above 0.03 mm (0.001 in), continue with step E below.
