Wheel Cylinder: Service and Repair
Wheel Cylinder Overhaul
Disassembly Procedure
1. Remove the wheel cylinder. Refer to Wheel Cylinder Replacement.
2. Remove the boots (4).
3. Remove the following components:

The pistons (3)
^
The seals (2)
4. Remove the spring (5).
5. Remove the bleeder valve (6).
6. Inspect the cylinder bore (1) and the pistons (3) for the following conditions:
^
Scoring
^
Gouges
^
Corrosion
^
Wear
7. Use a suitable wheel cylinder hone to clean up any light corrosion.
8. Replace the wheel cylinder (1) if the cylinder bore does not clean up with with a couple of passes with the wheel cylinder hone.
9. Clean all of the components in denatured alcohol.
10. Dry all of the components with nonlubricated, compressed air.
11. Lubricate the new seals with clean brake fluid.
Assemble Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
1. Install the bleeder valve (6).

Tighten the bleeder valve (6) to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.).
2. Install the spring (5).
3. Install the following components:
