Parking Brake Cable: Service and Repair
Park Brake Cable Replacement - Rear (Drum Brakes)

Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 37043 Parking Brake Release

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Disconnect the left rear park brake cable (1) from the equalizer (2) and connector.

3. Disconnect the cable (3) from the bracket (4) using the J 37043.
4. Remove the brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement.
5. Disconnect the cable from the park brake lever.
6. Remove the cable from the backing plate using the J 37043.

Installation Procedure 

Notice:  Parking brake adjustment is not necessary. This is a self adjusting system and damage may result from attempting to adjust or modify this
system in any way. It may be necessary to adjust the rear brakes to obtain the proper tension in the system.
