Coolant Outlet: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
Notice: Refer to Use GM Goodwrench DEX-COOL Coolant in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain and recover the coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
4. Disconnect the radiator hose and electrical connectors from housing.
5. Remove the heater hose from the coolant outlet housing (1).
5.1.
Remove the exhaust heat shield.
5.2.
Remove the nut from the exhaust manifold.
6. Remove the bolt which retains the power steering pump and set the bolt aside.
7. Remove the coolant outlet housing bolts.
8. Remove the coolant housing.
9. Remove the gasket.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the coolant outlet housing (1).
2. Install the gasket.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the coolant outlet housing bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 26 Nm (19 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the bolt which retains the power steering pump.
5. Install the heater hose from the coolant outlet housing.
5.1.
Install the exhaust heat shield.
5.2.
Install the nut to the exhaust manifold.
6. Connect the radiator hose and the electrical connectors to the housing.
7. Install the air cleaner assembly.
