Alero L4-144 2.4L DOHC VIN T SFI (2000)
1. Install the oil filter bypass valve. Seat the valve using a socket of the same diameter and a mallet.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the oil filter adapter.

Tighten the adapter to 29 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
3. Set the gasket in place and install the filter. Turn the filter 3/4 - 1 complete turn after the gasket contacts the surface of the block.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
6. Start the vehicle and test for leaks.
