Oil Pan: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure 

Caution:  Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions. 

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture.
3. Remove the engine mount. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement.
4. Raise the engine approximately 3.8 cm (1.5 inch).
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
6. Drain the engine oil.
7. Drain and recover the coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
8. Remove the flywheel dust shield.
9. Remove the right front wheel and tire assembly.

10. Remove the right splash shield. 
11. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
12. Remove the A/C compressor lower bolts. Refer to Compressor Replacement in Heating and Air Conditioning.

13. Remove the brace (3) which supports the transmission to the engine.
14. Remove the radiator outlet pipe.
15. Remove the bolt and the nut which secure the oil pan to the flywheel cover.
16. Remove the flywheel cover stud for clearance.

17. Remove the oil pan bolts.
18. Remove the oil pan and gasket. Clean the engine block and oil pan surfaces. Refer to Oil Pan Clean and Inspect.
