Healiner and Sunroof Opening Molding - Improper Fit/Gap

File In Section: 10 - Body

Bulletin No.: 83-16-12

Date: February, 1999

Subject:
Improper Fit or Gap Between Headliner and Sunroof Opening Molding (Reposition Electrical Connector and Install New Sunroof Opening Trim Lace)

Models:
1999 Oldsmobile Alero
1999 Pontiac Grand Am with Power Sunroof Option CF5

Condition

Some customers may comment that the edge of the headliner is exposed or does not fit well at the sunroof opening molding.

Cause

There may be interference between the headliner impact foam, the sunroof electrical connector on the left side and the sunroof module.

Correction

Reposition the sunroof electrical connector as necessary and install a new sunroof opening trim lace (molding). These new moldings have a larger
surface area to cover the edge of the headliner.

Important:

Do not move or adjust the headliner impact foam to correct the condition.
