16. Carefully remove the key, keeping the lock cylinder (9) inserted into the case assembly (11).
17. Insert one shutter spring (8) into each hole located on the front of the cylinder (9).
18. Install the shutter assembly (7) into the recessed area in the front of the cylinder (9). Ensure the ends of the pin on the shutter assembly (7) are

positioned in the pin cavities located on the front face of the cylinder (9).

19. Install the lock cylinder cap (6) by aligning the two notches in the cap with the drain hole located on the bottom of the case assembly (11) and the

corresponding feature on the top of the case assembly (11).
Press the cap into place with light hand pressure.

20. Install the appropriate lever (2).
21. Install the retaining ring (12).
22. Snap the appropriate rod retainer (1) into the hole in the lever (2).

Assembling and Coding Rear Compartment Lid Lock (L47)

The rear compartment lock cylinder only uses seven of the ten cut positions, 4 through 10. The tumbler positions alternate in adjacent locations from side
to side with four on one side and three on the other.

Important:  The rear compartment lid lock cylinder tumblers (9) are not self retaining and must be held in place if the key is not fully
inserted into the lock cylinder, or until the cylinder  (8) is assembled into the case assembly (10).

1. Hold the cylinder (8) so that the side with four tumbler spring wells faces up.
2. Insert the tumbler springs (4) into the four spring wells.
3. Insert the tumbler (9) for key cut position 4 into the slot nearest to the front of the lock cylinder (8).
4. Install the three remaining tumblers, key cut positions 6, 8 and 10, on this side of the lock cylinder.
5. Inspect for correct loading of the tumblers (9) by inserting the key into cylinder (8). All of the tumblers should be flush with the outside diameter

of the lock cylinder (8).

6. Turn the cylinder (8) so that the side with three tumbler spring wells faces up. 
7. Insert the tumbler springs (4) into the three spring wells.
8. Install the tumbler (4) for key cut position 5 into the slot nearest to the front of the lock cylinder.
9. Install the two remaining tumblers, key cut positions 7 and 9, on this side of the lock cylinder.

10. Inspect for the correct loading of the tumblers (9) by inserting the key into the cylinder (8). All of the tumblers (9) should be flush with the outside

diameter of the lock cylinder (8).

11. Lightly lubricate the tumbler (9) surfaces using the provided lubrication.
12. Install the lock cylinder (8) into case assembly (10).
13. Carefully remove the key, keeping the lock cylinder (8) inserted into the case assembly (10).
14. Insert one shutter spring (7) into each hole located on the front of the cylinder (8).
15. Install the shutter assembly (6) into the recessed area in the front of the cylinder (8). Ensure the ends of the pin on the shutter assembly (6) are

positioned in the pin cavities located on the front face of the cylinder (1).

16. Install the lock cylinder cap (5) onto the case assembly (10).
17. Stake the lip of the cap (5) in a minimum of four places equally spaced around the circumference.
18. Install the return spring (3) over the back end of the cylinder (8) with the exterior hook facing the rear of the case.
19. Engage the interior hook of the return spring with the recessed area of the cylinder.
20. Engage the exterior hook of the spring with the hook feature of the rear case. the spring should provide a counter clock-wise snap back.
21. Install the lock assembly into the bracket (2) and secure with the clip (1).
