PCM
Removal Procedure
1. Record the Transaxle and Engine oil life indexes.
Important: The key must be OFF for a minimum of 30 seconds before disconnecting PCM connectors or disconnecting battery voltage. This is to
allow the TP sensor learned value, the Transaxle shift adapt values and the fluid life indexes to be stored in the EEPROM of the PCM. Failure to
wait the 30 seconds may result in a EEPROM reset, DTC P1526 being set and the fluid life index being reset to zero.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the two screws for the right side sound insulator.
4. Disconnect the courtesy lamp socket.
5. Remove the sound insulator.
6. Pull the PCM from the mounting bracket.
7. Disconnect the PCM connectors from the PCM.
8. If the PCM is being replaced it will be necessary to remove the Knock Sensor module for installation into the replacement PCM.
Installation Procedure
1. If the original PCM is being replaced, the Knock Sensor module must be installed from the original PCM.
2. Connect the PCM connectors. Tighten the connectors screws to 10 Nm (7 lb. ft).
3. Insert the PCM up into the mounting bracket. Ensure the PCM is engaged firmly into the clips.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
Caution: If proper programming procedures are not followed, permanent damage to the PCM will result.
5. If a replacement PCM is being installed it must be reprogrammed (flashed) using the latest Techline programming procedures.
6. Connect a scan tool and perform the following:

Clear DTC P0603.
^
Reset Transaxle fluid life to that recorded prior to PCM Removal.
^
Reset Engine Oil life to that recorded prior to PCM Removal.
7. Reset Learned Throttle Position. Refer to DTC P1526.
8. Connect the courtesy lamp socket to the right side sound insulator.
9. Install the sound insulator using the two screws. Tighten the sound insulator screws to 19 Nm (17 lb in).
