The cast aluminum wheels used on the 1991 Oldsmobile Bravada may require some special procedures for off-vehicle wheel balancing. This wheel has a
raised embossment in the bolt hole area which interferes with some off-vehicle wheel balancer pressure cups. The purpose of this raised embossment is
to provide a threaded hole for hub cap retention.

If the pressure cup is found to contact this embossment, the wheel will not locate properly on the balancer, and an inaccurate balance will result. DO
NOT attempt to balance the wheel in this manner. If this condition is encountered, it is recommended that dealers contact the manufacturer of their
off-vehicle wheel balancing equipment (or G.M. Dealer Equipment) to determine if a pressure cup that fits the 1991 Bravada wheel is available.

If no suitable pressure cup is available, the wheel may be located on the balancer using the front cone method. This will eliminate the need to use a
pressure cup. To use the front cone method, the procedure below should be followed:

1.

Remove any cone or spring that may be on balancer shaft.

2.

Place wheel on balancer shaft, with the back side of the wheel located directly against the balancer mounting plate.

3.

Slide proper cone onto balancer shaft.

4.

Secure cone and wheel in position with large wing nut. See the illustration below.

IMPORTANT:

The front cone method should be used on this wheel only. It should not be used on any other General Motors wheels.

REMINDER:

For off-vehicle balancing, all wheels should be located using the center wheel hole only. Use of the bolt holes for locating may result in
inaccurate balancing.
