Hydraulic Lifter Replacement

REMOVAL

Tools Required
-

J 3049 Valve Lifter Remover (Pile Type)

-

J 9290-01 Valve Lifter Remover (Slide Hammer Type)

-

Or equivalent

1. Remove the rocker arm cover. 
2. Remove the intake manifold. 
3. Remove the pushrods.

4. Remove the retainer bolts and retainer.
5. Remove the valve lifter guide retainer and bolts.

6. Remove the valve lifter guides.
7. Place the components in a rack so that they can be reinstalled to their original location.

NOTE:  Some valve lifters may be stuck in their bores because of gum or varnish deposits. Use the special tools in order to remove these valve
lifters.
