Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair
Installation
INSTALLATION
CAUTION: It is recommended that replacement of exhaust system parts should be OEM standard to ensure that the vehicle operates as designed.
1. Install the exhaust manifold gasket.
2. Install the exhaust manifold.
3. Install the exhaust manifold washers.
4. Install the exhaust manifold retainers.
5. Install heat shield.
6. Install the exhaust manifold bolts. This is a two stage procedure.
a. Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts (center tube) to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
b. Then tighten exhaust manifold bolts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
7. Bend the retainer tabs over the heads of the bolts.
8. Raise and support the vehicle. Support the vehicle with safety stands.
9. Connect the EGR pipe to the left side exhaust manifold.
10. Install the front tires.
11. Connect the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold.

Tighten the exhaust pipe to manifold nuts to 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
12. Lower the vehicle.
