Wheel Fastener: Service and Repair

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

Tool Required:
-

J 6627-A Wheel Stud Remover

Raise the vehicle and support it with safety stands.
1. Tire and wheel.  
2. Brake caliper. Refer to Brakes and Traction Control.

Important  Support the caliper  with a piece of wire to prevent damage to the brake hose.

3. Hub bolt using J 6627-A.

Do not hammer on a wheel bolt.

Important:  When replacing hub bolts on vehicles with four wheel antilock brakes, remove and replace only one hub bolt at a time, to prevent
misalignment of speed sensor tone wheel.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. Hub bolt to the hub and bearing assembly.
2. Four washers and nut to the bolt.

Tighten nut 130 Nm (95 ft. lbs.), drawing the bolt in.

Remove the nut and washers.

3. Brake caliper. Refer to Brakes and Traction Control.
4. Tire and wheel. 

-

Lower the vehicle.
