Transmission Cooler: Service and Repair
Initial Flushing Procedure
CAUTION: If water does not flow through the oil cooler (system is completely plugged), do not continue flushing procedure. Turn the water
immediately and inspect the pipes and cooler for restrictions and repair, or personal injury could result
1. Switch the water valve on the tool to the ON position. Allow the water to flow through the oil cooler and oil cooler lines for 10 seconds to remove
most of the transmission oil from the cooling system.
2. Switch the water valve on the tool to the OFF position and clip the discharge hose on a 5 gallon pail with a lid, or position a shop towel over the
end of the discharge hose to prevent splash. The discharge will foam vigorously when the solution is introduced into the water stream.
3. Switch the water valve on the tool to the ON position and depress the trigger to mix the flushing solution into the water flow. Use the balsa clip
provided on the handle in order to hold the trigger down.
NOTICE: Shop air supply must be equipped with a water/oil filter and not exceed 825 kPa (120 psi), or personal injury may result.
4. Flush the oil cooler and oil cooler lines with water and solution for 2 minutes. During this flush, attach the air supply to the air valve located on the
plumbing of the tool for 3-5 seconds at the end of every 15-20 second interval in order to create a surging action.
5. Release the trigger and switch the water valve on the tool to the OFF position.
6. Disconnect both hoses from the oil cooler lines.
