Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair

CAUTION: The automatic transaxle crankshaft balancer must NOT be installed on a manual transaxle equipped engine.
INSTALLATION
1. Lubricate front seal and sealing surface of balancer with Chassis Grease GM P/N 1051344 or equivalent.
2. Install balancer onto the crankshaft indexing keyway. Tap into place using a rubber or sand filled mallet.
NOTICE: Do not use J 36660 Torque Angle Meter to rotate the retaining bolt the additional 90°. The torque capacity of the tool will be exceeded
and damage to the tool will result.
3. Install retaining bolt and washer and tighten to 150 Nm (110 lbs ft) while using J 38122 to prevent crankshaft rotation. Put a mark on the socket
next to one of the four (4) marks on J 38122. This mark will represent the zero point (0°). Tighten the bolt by rotating the socket clockwise 90°. At
90° the socket indexes with the next mark on the tool.
4. Install right splash shield.
5. Install right front tire and wheel assembly.
6. Lower the vehicle.
WARNING : To avoid personal injury when rotating the serpentine belt tensioner, use a tight fitting 13 mm wrench that is at least 61 cm
(24") long. This operation can be done using J 37059.
7. Install drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt. See: Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories/Drive Belt/Service and Repair
8. Start engine and inspect for oil leaks.
