1.
Remove engine from vehicle as described under ENGINE.
2.
Remove rocker arm cover, push rods, push rod cover and valve lifters.
3.
Remove crankshaft balancer, then front cover as described under ENGINE FRONT COVER.
4.
Remove camshaft thrust plate screws, then slide camshaft and gear out through front of block. Use care not to damage camshaft bearings.
5.
Remove gear from camshaft using an arbor press and adapter.
6.
Reverse procedure to install. When installing camshaft, align crankshaft and camshaft valve timing marks on gear teeth, Fig. 10.
