Oil Filter: Service and Repair
OIL FILTER
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

Raise vehicle and suitably support.
1. Oil pan drain plug.
2. Oil filter access plug.
3. Slowly turn filter to begin removal and pull downward.
4. Filter with pliers at tab.
5. 0-ring, if stuck to housing.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Coat 0-ring and grommet with clean engine oil.
2. Press fit filter into housing BY HAND.
3. Clean oil pan and drain plug.
4. Coat oil pan drain plug and oil filter access plug gaskets with clean engine oil.
5. Oil pan drain plug.
TIGHTEN
^
Plug to 34 Nm (25 lb. ft.).
6. Oil filter access plug.
^
Tighten 1/4 turn after gasket contact.
^
Lower vehicle.
7. Fill engine with clean oil.
INSPECT
^
For leaks.
^
Proper oil level.
