Calais V6-3300 3.3L MFI VIN N (1990)
Refinish the windshield reveal moldings using the following procedure:
1.
Wash the windshield area and reveal moldings with soap and water and wipe dry.
2.
Unlatch and lower the convertible top.
3.
Clean the reveal moldings with a wax and grease remover.
4.
Mask the windshield pillar weatherstrips, retainers and inner finishing lace on the reveal moldings for protection during the sanding operations.
5.
Sand the reveal moldings to the bare aluminum using # 320 grit sandpaper.
6.
Clean and prepare the surface with aluminum cleaners and conditioners using products such as *DuPont 225S followed by 226S, *PPG DX533
followed by DX503, or equivalent.
7.
Remask the molding areas for priming and paint. (Protect all areas not requiring paint).
8.
Apply a coating of self-etching primer such as DuPont 615S/616S, or Epoxy primer such as *BASF DE15/DA16/PR70, PPG DP90/DP401, or
equivalent.
9.
Apply 2-3 coats (or sufficient amount for hiding) of Black Single Stage Urethane paint following manufacturer's directions.
10.
Following air or force drying, remove masking and raise convertible top.

PAINT TOPCOAT DELAMINATION REPAINT ENTIRE BODY ABOVE THE BODY SIDE MOLDINGS
MODELS/YEARS:
1988-90 CUTLASS CALAIS, CUTLASS SUPREME
CONDITION:
Some 1988-90 Cutlass Calais and Cutlass Supremes models may be subject to topcoat delamination after exposure to sunlight and humidity.
CORRECTION:
1.
Verify that the condition is delamination of topcoat by applying a piece of tape firmly over the suspect area, and pulling upward quickly. If the
top coat and clear coat flake or peel away from the primer, leaving the primer intact, the top coat is delaminating and the following service
procedure should be performed.
2.
Refinish entire body above the body side moldings using the following refinish procedure. It is important that all surfaces above the body side
moldings be refinished, as these surfaces may show the same delamination (peeling) condition at a later time, causing customer comebacks. It is
equally important to remove all glass moldings, body moldings, emblems, door moldings and quarter glass prior to repairs.
3.
Remove original finish coat of paint down to electro-coat (Elpo) primer, making sure that factory pretreatment and Elpo primer are still intact for
