A minor whine type noise may be heard in the passenger compartment of 1985-1988 Cutlass Calais models equipped with a 3.0L V-6 engine. This
whine, usually most noticeable at approximately 3000 revolutions per minute (rpm), is a result of engine oil pump to front cover alignment which can
excite a resonance in the rear engine mount to engine bracket. This resonance can be transmitted to the passenger compartment as a whine.
Vehicles exhibiting this condition can be repaired by installing a new right rear engine mount to engine bracket kit as described in the following service
procedure.

the November 1985 Service Guild ("Ringing" Noise at 42 to 45 mph - 1985-1986 Calais with 3.0L Engine) for information pertaining to
other possible causes of similar type noises.

REMOVAL OF ORIGINAL RIGHT REAR ENGINE MOUNT TO ENGINE BRACKET (Figure 1):

Disconnect negative battery cable.
