Calais FWD V6-181 30L - Suspension Strut / Shock Absorber Replacement
TOOLS REQUIRED (or equivalents)

Drive axle cover, J-28712.
^
Tie rod end remover, J-24319.
REMOVAL
1. Raise hood and loosen upper strut mount to body nuts.
2. Hoist car, enough to allow front suspension to hang free.
3. Remove wheel.
4. Install drive axle cover, J-28712.
5. Disconnect tie rod from strut by using J-24319.
NOTE: Support knuckle to prevent tension from being applied to brake hose.
6. Remove both strut-to-knuckle bolts.
7. Remove strut assembly, first supporting assembly to prevent it from falling and remove the strut mount to body nuts.
INSTALLATION
1. Install strut mount to body bolts and torque to 28 Nm (20 ft lbs).
2. Install strut-to-knuckle bolts and torque to 180 Nm (133 ft lbs).
NOTE: Place flats on both mounting bolts in a horizontal position.
3. Connect tie rod to strut.
4. Remove drive axle cover.
5. Install wheel and lower car.
