October 30, 1987 (Julian Date 303), all 1988 THM 440-T4 transaxles were built using the new 2nd clutch piston inner seal (614B).
SERVICE ACTION:
When replacing the second clutch piston inner seal:

1984 through 1986 - Either the new second clutch piston inner seal or previous seal may be used.
^
1987 or 1988 - Only use the new second clutch piston inner seal (614B) contained in the service package listed in the Service Parts Information
section.

Discard the 2nd clutch piston inner seal (614B) contained in these overhaul packages if it is not identified as shown in Figure 2.

SERVICE NOTES:
For warranty purposes, when replacing the second clutch seals use labor operation K7535. For this operation and to recondition the transaxle completely,
refer to the appropriate labor time guide for applicable labor time information.
