(Figure 22)  Compact Master Cylinder

(Figure 23)  Removing Master Cylinder Reservoir. Composite Type

    Refer to Figs. 2 and 22 when performing the following procedures.

Disassembly

1.

Remove master cylinder from vehicle as follows: 
a.

Disconnect and plug hydraulic lines.

b.

Remove two master cylinder attaching nuts, then the master cylinder.

2.

Remove reservoir cover and diaphragm. Discard old brake fluid in reservoir.

3.

Inspect cover and diaphragm. Replace if cut, cracked or deformed.

4.

Remove fluid level switch, if equipped.

5.

On models with compact master cylinder, remove proportioner valve assembly, Fig. 22.

6.

Depress primary piston and remove lock ring.
