CONDITION:
Malfunction of rear wheel ABS Speed Sensor on some 1989-90 Cutlass Supreme models. ABS dash light comes on, ABS Diagnostics points to the rear
sensor. If the ABS light is on, only the anti-lock feature is inoperative. The normal brake system is still 100% functional.
CAUSE:
The malfunction may be caused by water intrusion past the seal on the ABS Sensor.
CORRECTION:
The ABS Sensor is not serviced separately, replace the rear wheel bearing assemblies with P/N 7466987 bearings.
Part is currently available from GMSPO.
If a vehicle encounters this condition, both rear wheel bearing assemblies should be replaced.
Bearings with an improved seal entered production with vehicle number LD371245.
