Camshaft: Service and Repair
Intake Camshaft - Removal
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Ignition coil and module assembly electrical connections.

3. Four (4) ignition coil and module assembly to camshaft housing bolts and remove assembly by pulling straight up.

Use J 36011 or equivalent to remove connector assembly(s) if stuck to the spark plugs. Use tool by first twisting then pulling up on
connector assembly.
4. Throttle lever actuator power steering pressure switch connector.
5. Loosen power steering pump adjusting stud bolt.
6. Loosen power steering pump pivot bolts (3) and remove drive belt.
7. Rear power steering pump bracket to transaxle bolts (2).
8. Front power steering pump bracket to cylinder block bolt.
9. Power steering pump assembly and position aside.
10. Pulley from camshaft.
11. Oil/air separator (crankcase ventilation system). Leave the hoses attached to the separator, disconnect from the oil fill, chain cover, and intake
manifold. Remove as an assembly.
12. Vacuum line from fuel pressure regulator and fuel injector harness connector.
