Refer to Fig. 87. when servicing this column.
Floor shift models equipped with automatic transmission use an ignition switch inhibitor and park lock cable. On these models, the park lock cable
must be disconnected from ignition switch inhibitor before steering column is removed from vehicle. When removal of steering column is necessary,
proceed as follows:
1.
Lower steering column to floor of vehicle.
2.
Remove shield or other upper column housing.
3.
Turn column lock cylinder to the On position.
4.
Disconnect park lock cable from ignition switch inhibitor with small screwdriver or punch, Fig. 88.
