Radiator Hose: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
NOTICE: When adding coolant, it is important that you use GM Goodwrench DEX-COOL coolant. If coolant other than DEX-COOL is added to the
system, the engine coolant will require change sooner: at 50 000 km (30,000 miles) or 24 months.
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain and recover the coolant. The coolant level must be below the hose which is to be removed. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
3. Disconnect the radiator inlet hose from the radiator and the thermostat housing.
4. Disconnect the engine inlet hose from the radiator, water pump and surge tank.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTICE: Make sure the reference marks on the hoses and the radiator are lined up. A twist on the hose would place strain on the radiator fitting
which could cause the fitting to crack or break.
1. Connect the engine inlet hose to the radiator, water pump and surge tank.
2. Connect the radiator inlet hose to the radiator and thermostat housing.
3. Connect the negative battery cable.

Tighten the bolt to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
5. Inspect the system for leaks.
