Cutlass V6-262 4.3L DSL VIN V FI (1983)
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable and remove air cleaner assembly.
2.
Remove crankcase ventilation filters and pipes from the valve covers and air crossover.
3.
Remove the air crossover and install intake manifold screened covers J-26996-10.
4.
Disconnect the throttle rod and throttle return spring.
5.
Remove bellcrank.
6.
Remove throttle and TV detent cables from intake manifold brackets and position cables aside.
7.
Remove fuel lines to fuel filter, then the fuel filter, Figs. 14 and 15.
8.
Disconnect fuel line at fuel pump and remove fuel line. If equipped with A/C remove rear compressor brace.
9.
Disconnect fuel return line from injection pump, Figs. 15 and 16.
10.
Disconnect the injection line clamps closest to pump.
11.
Disconnect the injection lines from pump and cap all openings.
12.
Remove three nuts retaining injection pump, using tool No. J-26987.
13.
Remove pump and discard the pump to adapter O-ring.

Installation
1.
Align offset tang on pump driveshaft with pump driven gear, Fig. 18.
2.
Install new pump to adapter O-ring, then install the pump fully seating pump by hand.
3.
Align mark on injection pump with line on adapter and torque retaining nuts to 18 ft. lbs.
4.
Remove caps from the openings and connect the injection lines to the pump.
5.
Install injection line clamps.
6.
Connect the fuel return line.
7.
Reconnect the fuel line at the fuel pump. If equipped with A/C, install the rear compressor brace.
8.
Install the fuel filter and fuel filter to injection pump line.
9.
Install throttle and TV detent cables on intake manifold.
10.
Install bellcrank.
11.
Install throttle rod and throttle return spring.
12.
Remove screened covers from intake manifold, then install air crossover.
13.
Install pipes and hoses in the air crossover and ventilation filters in valve covers.
14.
Install air cleaner assembly and connect battery ground cable.
