Compressor/Pump: Testing and Inspection
Compressor Does Not Operate

1.

Turn ignition to Run position and check condition of gauges fuse. If fuse is blown, proceed to step 2. If fuse is satisfactory, proceed to step 3.

Replace fuse. If fuse blows again, check for short to ground in brown, pink, white and pink/blue wire between height sensor and fuse block and
repair as necessary. If wires are satisfactory, check other circuits on the same fuse and repair as necessary.

Check condition of CTSY fuse. If fuse is blown, proceed to step 4. If fuse is satisfactory, proceed to step 5.

Replace fuse. If fuse blows again, check for short to ground in orange wire between ELC relay and CTSY fuse and repair as necessary. If wires are
satisfactory, check other circuits on the same fuse and repair as necessary.

5.

Connect jumper wire between orange wire of ELC relay coil and ground.

6.

If compressor does not run, proceed as follows:

a. Disconnect jumper wire and connect suitable 12 volt test lamp between ground and orange wire of ELC relay coil.
b. If test lamp does not light, repair open in orange wire between ELC relay and fuse.
c. If test lamp lights, connect jumper wire between ground and yellow wire of ELC relay.
d. If test lamp does not light, repair open in orange wire between relay and CTSY fuse.
e. If test lamp lights, connect test lamp between ground and dark green wire of ELC compressor.
f.

If test lamp lights, check compressor ground and compressor and repair as necessary.

g. If test lamp does not light, check for an open in dark green wire between compressor and relay and repair as necessary. If wire is satisfactory,

replace ELC relay.

7.

If compressor runs, proceed as follows:

a. Remove jumper wire, then raise and support vehicle. Check that key on height sensor electrical connector is properly installed and that there

is no open in black wire between height sensor and ground.

b. Disconnect height sensor electrical connector and connect test lamp between ground and terminal A.
c. If test lamp does not light, repair open in brown, pink, white or pink/black wire between height sensor and fuse block.
d. If test lamp lights, check for voltage at terminal F. If voltage is present, repair open in orange wire. If there is no voltage, check height sensor

and adjust or replace as necessary.
