Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

Fuel Rail Assembly Model R630 - Exploded View

WARNING:  To reduce the risk of fire and personal injury that may result from a fuel leak, always replace O-ring seals exposed during
component service.

REMOVAL:

1.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2.

Relieve the fuel system pressure, see MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELIEF.

3.

Remove the fuel rail assembly, see FUEL RAIL ASSEMBLY.

4.

Remove the pressure regulator attaching screws.

5.

Remove the pressure regulator from the fuel rail.

6.

Remove the fuel pressure regulator retainer.

7.

Remove the fuel rail to regulator base seal and discard.

INSTALLATION:

1.

Lubricate the new fuel rail to regulator base O-ring seal with clean engine oil, and install it on the fuel rail.

2.

Install the fuel regulator retainer.

3.

Install the fuel regulator assembly.

4.

Install the fuel regulator attaching screws, and tighten to 5.5 Nm (49.0 lb. in).

5.

Tighten the fuel rail outlet fitting to 27.0 Nm (20.0 lb.ft).

6.

Install the fuel rail assembly, see FUEL RAIL ASSEMBLY.

7.

Connect the negative battery cable.

8.

With the engine OFF and the ignition ON, check for fuel leaks.
