CONDITION
Some 1982 and 1983 Cutlass Ciera models may experience a condition in which "J" nuts located on the cowl under the top forward edge of the
instrument panel pad, loose full thread contact with instrument panel pad attaching screws..

CORRECTION
A revised "J" nut has been released to correct this condition. The revised "J" nut, (Figure 1) provides more screw thread contact area to improve the grip
of the nut on the screw. In addition the center portion of the "J" nut is designed to float free and slide sideways. This will permit proper alignment of the
"J" nut and instrument panel pad attachment screw holes.
This "J" nut is available from WDDGM, part number 22521600, and may be used on all current model instrument panels.
For "J" nut replacement, refer to the following procedure.
1.
Disconnect speedometer cable at transaxle. (On cars equipped with cruise control, disconnect the speedometer cable at transducer.)
2.
Remove both front speaker grilles.
