INSTALLATION
1.
Clean and inspect bearing mating surfaces and steering knuckle bore for dirt, nicks and burrs.
2.
If installing steering knuckle seal, use tool J-28671 or equivalent to install seal, Fig. 4. Apply grease to seal and knuckle bore.
3.
Push bearing onto axle shaft.
4.
Tighten hub nut to fully seat bearing.
5.
Install bearing attaching bolts and torque to 63 ft. lbs, Fig. 2.
6.
Install caliper assembly and the wheel.
7.
Lower vehicle and torque hub nut to 225 ft. lbs. on 1982 models, 185-192 ft. lbs. on 1983-88.
