Fresh air enters the engine through the combination check valve, filter and oil fill cap. The fresh air combines with blow-by gases and enters one (V6)
or both (V8) valve cover(s). These gases then pass through the valve cover filter into the connecting pipes. Intake manifold vacuum then determines the
flow of the gases by acting on the spring loaded diaphragm of the CDRV. During periods of high vacuum, the diaphragm is pulled closer to the top of the
outlet tube, reducing the amount of gases being drawn from the crankcase and decreasing the vacuum level in the crankcase. As vacuum decreases, the
spring pushes the diaphragm away from the top of the outlet tube, permitting more gases to flow to the intake manifold.
