Block drive wheels, apply parking brake and shift transmission to Park.
2.
Start engine and run until normal operating temperature is reached, then stop engine.
3.
Remove air cleaner cover and MAP sensor retainer .
4.
Position MAP sensor aside, leaving electrical connectors and vacuum line connected, then remove air cleaner assembly.
5.
Remove air crossover and install screened covers No. J-26996-10.
6.
Disconnect electrical connector from HPAA solenoid.
7.
Disconnect MVS harness and install harness adapter, Fig. 12.
8.
Connect suitable tachometer to engine.
9.
Start engine and run at 1500 RPM for 10-20 seconds, then return to idle.
10.
Ensure parking brake is still applied and drive wheels are blocked, then shift transmission to Drive.
11.
Adjust idle speed to 600 RPM.
12.
Measure and record voltage between terminals A and C, Fig. 12. This will be considered the V-Ref voltage.
13.
Measure and record voltage between terminals B and C, Fig. 12. This is the MVS voltage.
14.
Compare voltages recorded in steps 12 and 13 to specifications in chart, Fig. 13.
15.
Shift transmission to Park and measure voltage between terminals B and C while quickly moving throttle between idle and wide open positions.
Voltage should go from less than 1 volt at idle to more than 4 volts at wide open throttle.
16.
If MVS voltages are within specifications, the sensor is operating properly. If voltages are not within specifications, proceed to adjustment
procedure.
