Water In Fuel Indicator: Testing and Inspection

If Water In Fuel lamp is lit at all times, disconnect the two wire connector (yellow/black-pink) at rear of fuel tank, then check lamp. If lamp is lit,
locate and repair short in yellow/black wire from 2 wire connector to instrument panel lamp. If lamp goes out, drain fuel tank in accordance with
draining instructions, then reconnect electrical connector. If lamp lights, remove tank unit, then check wires for shorts. If no shorts exist, replace
detector.

If Water In Fuel lamp does not light when ignition switch is turned on, disconnect 2 wire connector (yellow/black-pink) wire at rear of fuel tank,
then ground yellow black wire in body harness. With ignition switch on, check Water In Fuel Lamp. If lamp is lit, remove fuel gauge tank unit,
then check yellow/black wire for opens. Check connections to indicator, and mounting screw for tightness. If no fault is found, replace detector.
If lamp is off, check bulb. If bulb is satisfactory, check for open circuit in yellow/black wire from 2 wire connector to indicator socket.
