1989 CUTLASS SUPREME W/UT6 OPTION
The 1989 Cutlass Supremes (with UT6 option) may have a condition where moving the AUDIO BASS CONTROL knob results in only a small change
in the bass response of the audio system. This condition is caused by a voltage drop across the light emitting diode (LED) in the AUDIO BASS
CONTROL.
To repair these vehicles, use the following procedure:
1.
Remove the Instrument Panel (IP) trimplate (4 screws underneath the top, 4 clips on the bottom).
2.
Remove the switch. The switch is clipped to an IP bracket on early cars, or directly to the trimplate on later built cars.
3.
Remove the light emitting diode (LED) from the audio bass control assembly (See Figure 1).
4.
Reinstall the switch and the trimplate.
IMPORTANT:
A revised procedure using a redesigned part will be issued in the future.
