Delta 88 V6-231 38L (1983) Turbocharger Service Precautions
Turbocharger: Technician Safety Information
^
Never operate the engine with the air intake hose disconnected from the turbocharger. If the air intake hose is disconnected from the turbocharger
while the engine is running, and a fluorescent light happens to be shining into the turbocharger housing, it may appear that the turbine is not
spinning. The appearance that the turbine is not moving is an optical illusion created by the frequency of the fluorescent light in relation to the
rpm of the turbine (similar to the effect a timing light has on a serpentine drive belt. Do not attempt to touch the turbine, as serious personal injury
could result.
