Compressor/Pump: Testing and Inspection
Compressor Runs, Auto Doesn't Raise/Lower After Shut-Off

1.

Attach pressure gauge as shown in Fig. 19.

Disconnect compressor solenoid wiring connector.

Inflate system through service fill valve to approximately 80 psi and observe if vehicle raises and system holds pressure for approximately 10
minutes.

a. If vehicle raises and pressure leaks down, locate and repair air line or fitting leaks and repair as necessary.
b. If vehicle does not raise and pressure reads approximately 80 psi, inspect air lines for pinches and other restrictions. Repair as necessary. If

air lines are satisfactory, inspect limiter valve (Toronado models only).

c. If vehicle raises and pressure holds steady at approximately 80 psi, proceed to step 4.

Open pressure gauge shutoff, refer to Fig. 19. Observe if system pressure leaks down. Pressure will drop off when valve is first opened, this is
considered normal.

a. Pressure leaks down. Check compressor performance. Refer to ``Compressor Current Draw, Pressure Output and Leak Down Test,'' repair or

replace as necessary.

b. Pressure remains steady. Proceed to step 5.

Using pressure gauge fill valve, Fig. 19, deflate system. Switch ignition ``On.'' Connect a suitable jumper wire from compressor relay yellow
terminal to ground. Observe pressure reading on gauge, it should exceed 90 psi.

a. If pressure build up is low, remove and repair compressor, refer to ``ELC System Service.''
b. If pressure build up is satisfactory, proceed to step 6.

Remove jumper wire from compressor relay yellow terminal to ground then, reconnect compressor solenoid wiring connector. Turn ignition ``On''
and raise and support rear of vehicle. Disconnect height sensor connector then, using a suitable test light connected between terminals 2 and 6,
observe if test light goes ``On.''

a. If light is ``On,'' locate and repair ground in white wire sensor.
b. If light is ``Off,'' refer to ``Height Sensor Operational Check.''
