Camshaft: Service and Repair

1. Relieve fuel pressure.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove intake manifold.
3. Remove valve cover, rocker arms, pushrods and valve lifters.
4. Remove crankshaft pulley and crankshaft sensor cover.
5. Remove front cover, timing chain and sprockets.
6. Remove camshaft thrust plate and camshaft. When removing or installing camshaft, avoid marring the bearing surface.
7. Reverse procedure to install, coating camshaft and valve lifters with prelube part No. 1052365, or equivalent, prior to installation.
