ASSEMBLE

1.

Install a replacement pickup screen and tube assembly, if removed. Position pump in a soft jawed vise, then apply sealer to end of tube and tap into
position using tool No. J8369 and a plastic hammer. Use care not to damage inlet screen and tube assembly when installing on pump housing.

2.

Place pressure regulator valve, spring and retaining pin into pump body, then install drive gear and shaft.

3.

Install idler gear into pump body, then the pump cover gasket. Fig. 19.

4.

Install pump cover and cover retaining bolts, then torque bolts to 6---9 ft. lbs.

INSTALLATION

1.

Align oil pump extension shaft to distributor drive gear socket and pump housing with dowels on cap, then install shaft retainer and pump
assembly.

2.

Install oil pump assembly retaining bolt to rear main bearing cap and torque bolt to 26---35 ft. lbs.

3.

Install oil pan as previously described.
