Shift Cable Adjustment

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2.

Place shift lever into first gear position, then loosen shift cable nuts (E) at levers (D) and (F), Fig. 5.

3.

Remove console trim plate, then slide shift lever boot upward on shift lever.

4.

Remove console assembly.

5.

With shift lever in the first gear position and held against stop, insert a suitable yoke type clip to hold lever in position, Fig. 5.

6.

Insert a 5/32 inch drill bit into alignment hole on side of shifter assembly, Fig. 5.

7.

Rotate lever (D), Fig. 5, in direction of arrow while tightening cable retaining nut.

8.

Tighten cable retaining nut at lever (F), Fig. 5.

9.

Remove drill bit and yoke clip, then install console and connect battery ground cable.

10.

Check shift lever for proper operation and readjust as necessary.
