Water Pump: Service and Repair

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1.  Negative cable at the battery
2.  Drain the cooling system.
3.  Serpentine belt
4.  A/C pressure cycling switch (if equipped)
5.  Water pump pulley
6.  Water pump attaching bolts then remove the pump.

CLEAN

^  Be sure the sealing surfaces are clean and free of traces of the old gasket.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1.  Coat bolt threads with pipe sealant Part No. 1052080, or equivalent.
2.  Using a new gasket, install the pump, then tighten the bolts to specifications.
3.  A/C pressure cycling switch
4.  Serpentine belt

Adjust

^  Belt tension

5.  Fill the cooling system.
6.  Connect the battery, then start the engine.

INSPECT

^  Check for coolant leaks.
